This bird design is based on the pictorial tilework in the bathroom at Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West Florida, which he remodeled in 1931.  Those tiles are gold and black (a popular color scheme at the time), but I switched to a pretty turquoise blue.  This 4-inch square needlepoint canvas would make a fantastic ornament or coaster, especially for a beach house.  

I also have the companion Fish canvas you see in the second image, and both designs in a larger 12-inch square.  Hand painted on 100% cotton Zweigart mono deluxe canvas.
